String Classes
In order to help students prepare for the chamber orchestra experience, we also offer more individualized classes for the first year of playing. Students who successfully perform the concert pieces at the end of their first year of playing will move forward to Chamber Orchestra I.

Small Ensembles consist of two, three, or four students who play together. Each student has their own part in duets (two players), trios (three players), and quartets (four players). In these ensembles, there is no conductor; instead, students learn how to play with each other under the guidance and artistry of a teacher. Skills learned in playing in small ensembles apply to those needed to play in chamber orchestras and in larger symphony orchestras.
Small Ensembles are designed for those who have had at least one year of playing experience. The CSA staff will organize these classes based on student age, instrument, and playing experience. The level of improvement moves quickly and steadily once students have a solid foundation in that first year of playing.

Please note, there is no audition requirement to enroll and start classes. However, we will need a recording of two to three minutes so that we may accurately place new students who are not beginners. If you are unable to submit a recording, please send us an email, and we will set up a short Zoom meeting.
